Interfaces

HSL provides various technical interfaces and solutions for the sending and receiving of SMS. HSL's technical and support teams help to integrate clients systems in a professional manner, making account set-up a straightforward procedure for all clients. The following are the technical interfaces provided and the specifications for each interface:

SMTPSMTP (email)

The simplest method of using the SMS services is through the Simple Mail Transfer Protocol interface. This uses an everyday email application to allow the sending and receiving of SMS by simply composing an email. The SMTP GMI interface also supports the receiving of SMS from mobile telephones.

SMTP Email 1-Way: SMTP v2
SMTP Email 2-Way: SMTP GMI v7
SMPPSMPP (Short Message Peer to Peer)
An application supporting SMPP can send SMS directly to HSL's systems for delivery to mobile telephones. This interface also supports the receiving of SMS from mobile telephones. Our messaging infrastructure supports SMPP v3.3 and v3.4.
SMPP 1-Way or 2-Way: SMPP v3.3; SMPP v3.4; SMPP PICS
HTTPHTTP (HyperText Transfer Protocol)
An application supporting HTTP can send SMS directly to HSL's systems for delivery to mobile telephones. This interface also supports the receiving of SMS from mobile telephones. We offer two separate HTTP interface specifications to cater for simple and sophisticated requirements.
HTTP 1-Way or 2-Way (simple): HTTP v4
HTTP 2-Way (sophisticated): HTTP GMI v3
HTTPWeb Service (SOAP/XML)
An application supporting Web Services can send SMS directly to HSL's systems for delivery to mobile telephones.
Web Services (SOAP/XML): Web Service v1

Further details regarding the technical requirements and specifications for these can be found in the Info & Docs section, or alternatively if you would like to contact us we will happily discuss the options further.

The sending and/or receiving of SMS through HSL's systems is facilitated through our 'Advanced Services' accounts, each of which is compatible with the above interface options. Further details regarding the accounts can be found in the Account Pricing section.

If you would like technical information regarding the integration of your own application for use with HSL's accounts, please visit the Developers section.
