Exciting Developments with HSL!
Launch of Direct SS7 Interconnects
HSL are delighted to announce that their project for directly interconnecting at the SS7 level with mobile networks is coming to fruition, with a number of direct interconnects having been established with a number of mobile network operators. SS7 is the network protocol used within and between network operators and is the native protocol over which SMS is sent.
As a dedicated provider of SMS, HSL continuously strive to enhance their network operations and service portfolio. Using direct SS7 interconnect reduces the reliance on third parties and the scope for failure that can occur with other forms of connection. Therefore through the use of direct SS7 interconnects HSL provide increased benefits to clients and a direct delivery route for communication with mobile telephones on these networks.
HSL’s delivery infrastructure makes use of four different forms of connection to mobile networks:
a) connection via SMPP/IP to destination network’s SMSCs for delivery to that destination network;
b) connection via SMPP/IP to a mobile operator’s SMSCs that are able to deliver to a destination network;
c) connection via SS7 to a mobile operator’s SS7 network for delivery to a destination network;
d) and connection via SS7 for direct delivery to a destination network.
Established direct interconnects so far include:
Cosmote, Greece
Etisalat, UAE
Orange, UK
Further direct interconnects expected to go live in the next 3-6 months include:
T-Mobile, UK
Vodafone, UK
O2, UK
H3G, UK
This is an exciting time for HSL and a significant step for the company’s growth and development within the mobile industry. The use of SS7 direct interconnects enables HSL to be positioned in the industry as a serious alternative to mobile network operators’ own SMSC offerings.
Voice Services from HSL
As part of HSL’s commitment to improving and developing innovative service enhancements, the company is pleased to inform both clients and potential clients that they will soon be introducing voice services to their service portfolio. This is a great step for HSL and the service will be enabled through Virtual Mobile Number and Virtual SIM Hosting solutions and will provide clients the ability to receive and make voice calls, in addition to sending and receiving SMS. It is anticipated that the new voice services will be available by the end of the year, with further news to be announced in due course.
