SMS Working with GPS for Better Traceability
Dreamap S.A.S. is a French software firm which has focused primarily on the geolocalisation market for the last 12 years. Dreamap's expertise lies with designing ergonomic and autonomous beacons using GSM and GPS as well as developing servers and embedded location platforms for the traceability and monitoring of sensitive goods, lone workers and dependents. Their geolocalised service can be used in all areas of industry from aviation to transport to agriculture and as such the company also offers bespoke services to clients.
In 2009, Dreamap decided that they needed a reliable solution to allow them to communicate with their GSM/GPS devices in the field as well as with the end users of their applications. As such they contacted HSL. HSL were able to meet their requirements by providing a 2-way SMS service using the SMPP protocol which connected into their systems. HSL's Virtual SIM Hosting solution is used by Dreamap to facilitate the inbound messages to their application. This allows the end users to send replies directly to Dreamap's application via a long French number and at a local SMS rate.
HSL's highly reliable and resilient SMS delivery infrastructure comprises geographically separate and independent customer facing sites, and links directly into the infrastructure of multiple mobile network operators. This infrastructure enables HSL to offer clients over 99.9% availability Service Level Agreement.
Dreamap have now been using HSL's 2-way services to fulfill existing and new end client requirements. Furthermore, HSL's reliable solution has enabled the worldwide communication that Dreamap initially envisaged as well as providing them with SMS delivery information for better traceability of their communications.
